How to Make Around the Tree Planters
Step 1: Pick the right shape and size
Look around your garden carefully. The planter box should not be too big or too small. Find a good balance.
Leave at least 6 feet between the tree trunk and the plants you want to grow if you want to protect the tree’s roots. Pay attention to plants that grow low to the ground because they might take over the area at some point.
You might be tempted to choose a round planter because a tree trunk is round, but this similarity in shape can be jarring to the eye. Also, it’s harder to make a round planter box.
